Cruciform socket bayonet for use on the M1867 Remington rolling block military rifle.
According to Per Holmback, noted authority on Scandinavian bayonets, M1867’s were manufactured in quite large quantities by both Husquvarna and Carl Gustaf Stad. They also bought 10,000 bayonets from Remington, and this is one of those. They were delivered September 2, 1868. The Remington made bayonet is recognized by the steel blade and iron socket. The other bayonets were made in one piece.
If you look carefully at the bottom picture, the color line between the steel and iron is visible.
