Epee bayonet that stows in forend of the Syrian-contract MAS M1949 self-loading rifle.

Approx. 6,000 rifles were manufactured.  This example was made in 1953 by Manufacture D'Armes St. Etienne (MAS). France.

M1949 rifles made for the French Army had no provision for a bayonet (an oversight which was remedied with the M1949/56 version).
